Beads To Bracelets
These two young girls have a passion for Christ, a heart
for serving and a love for crafts.
Put these three things together and what do you get?
Beads to Bracelets, the name the girls gave their business.
Together, Madie and Joya made several bracelets this past summer and sold
them to raise money for Love In the Name of Christ of Greater Sheldon.
When asked what they learned about the experience Joya said, “It was fun
making the bracelets together. I’m
glad that a lot of people helped out Love INC by buying the bracelets.
We were surprised by how much money we made.”
Madie’s thoughts, “I hope the money that we raised helps a lot of people.
I had so much fun making and selling the bracelets.
Thanks to all the people who bought bracelets.”
Monday in the Park
Could it have been a more beautiful evening on August 29 for “Monday in the Park”? We don’t think so! Good food from Prairie Queen Bakery . . . good fellowship with our amazing volunteers . . . good fun with a trivia game and prizes. As Board members and staff, we are immensely thankful to God for the many hours of service and the talents shared by our volunteers. We attempted to show our gratitude at the Sheldon City Park on that beautiful summer night and also to share enthusiasm for some of our ministries. It seems that we learned . . . we laughed . . . and the love for God and His people was evident. To God Be The Glory!
6th Annual "Shop with a Cop" Program held on August 3 &4
The Shop with a Cop evening started with the youth, their families and the volunteers having a Pizza Ranch meal together in the basement of the Sheldon Community Services Center. The kids then rode police cars or a RIDES bus to Pamida for the shopping. Fifty-seven children from twenty-one needy families in Sheldon were required to spend $115 on school-related clothing, with an option of spending up to $20 more on anything else. After shopping, the kids returned to the community center, where they were given a backpack filled with the specific supplies that they will need for the upcoming school year. Those items are donated by members of local churches. Thirty-seven volunteers along with six law enforcement officers, helped out with the shopping.

Homes of Hope – Love INC’s newest ministry!
Construction continues at Love INC’s first Homes of Hope site! Painting should be completed soon and flooring is being installed. Love INC is still looking for volunteers to put the finishing touches on this project. If you are handy and enjoy remodeling type work and desire a flexible schedule, please call 324-9707.
Scavenger Hunt
|
On May 6, 2011, the St. Patrick's middle school students participated in a scavenger hunt where they went from house to house asking for household items that could be donated to Love INC. Each group had a list of items they needed to get. Thanks to the many people who gave items, this scavenger hunt was a success! |
Pastor's Luncheon
On Wednesday, May 4, 2011, 10 area church leaders attended a Pastor's Luncheon at Love INC. Those in attendance represented five different denominations and six different towns. Love INC staff shared the mission of Love INC and provided updates on "What's New" at Love INC. Following a tour of the Love INC building, the pastors enjoyed the opportunity to fellowship with each other over lunch.
Annual Meeting

Once a year, the supporters of Love INC of Greater Sheldon come together to
celebrate God’s gift of a wonderful ministry. We share the successes seen in the
last year and praise God for the many gifts He has showered upon each of us.
This year, the 2010 Annual Meeting was held on March 5, 2011 at the Village
Wansink Center. Doors opened at 6:00 for wonderful appetizers served by Prairie
Queen Bakery and punch served by Cherish, Shantel and Erin. The board welcomed
the many guests who arrived to share in the celebration.
At 6:30, we moved into the gym for a welcome and devotions by Grant VandeBrake.
Guests were then treated to a meal catered by Kelly’s of Hospers. Everything was
delicious. Guests were served by the youth of Union Catholic Cluster and their
adult chaperones. After the meal, the business portion of the meeting took
place. We thanked Kendall DeGroot and Jim Kleinwolterink for their service on
the board and welcomed Pastor Dave Brower and Howard Johnson onto the board.
After cheesecake, we were entertained by True Emotion. It was a treat to watch
and listen to these sisters share their gifts and praise their God. Love does
indeed bear fruit when we trust in the Lord and remember where all gifts come
from and where they should return!
